Bring Christmas Cheer to the Troops!
As we sit cozily in our homes this year enjoying the holiday season with our loved ones and perhaps a nice cup of hot chocolate or eggnog, it is easy to forget about the troops serving in Iraq who do not have the privilege of being surrounded by family, friends, sounds of the season, decorations, holiday services, and Christmas gifts. For many people whose son, daughter, brother, sister, mother or father is currently deployed, however, the Christmas season may be missing its usual sense of joy as their loved one is absent from the picture, and concern for his safety and spirit dampen the holiday jollity. At Tactical Store, we are mindful of the struggles of the soldiers and their friends and family, and wish to offer our support and thanks for their selfless service to the country. As we are surrounded by comfort and festivities, it is a humbling thought to wonder, "What are the troops up to this Christmas?" Fortunately, some folks are doing what they can to brighten the holiday season for our troops, like participating in programs like Trees for Troops, a nationwide organization that donates and delivers free Christmas trees to military personnel and their families worldwide. About 20,000 real evergreens are expected to be delivered to troops before Christmas. Others support troops locally by donating food, toys, clothes, diapers, and other necessities to local low-income military families.
