Scout Scopes on Scout Rifles

A customer asked me today if I thought a Burris 3-12 pistol scope would work on his M1A scout rifle. The answer is yes. The field of view at a higher power would make the scope and gun combination basically useless, though, unless you're sitting at a bench. The Scout rifles are designed for quick, two eye open target acquisition at shorter to medium ranges. Pistol scopes like the 3-12 Burris are extremely specialized optics and they take a lot of experience to be proficient with, let alone master. A better choice for his gun would be the Leupold Scout scope or the Burris Scout scope. Both are low powered and have a large field of view. They are expressly made for scout rifles such as the M1A. We sell a lot of these Scout scopes to operators overseas using Springfield Armory Scout rifles instead of black guns.
