Six additional thermal-imaging cameras were bought to assist Eversham firefighters in locating victims. Now the department has ten palm-sized thermal imaging cameras, which cost $ 6,500 each, and for the new six cameras department spent $ 39,000.
The department’s first thermal-imaging camera was purchased by a senior-care community – Care One. It was donated about eight years ago.
Evesham Fire-Rescue is the first department in Burlington County to outfit every frontline fire apparatus with thermal-imaging technology.
According to firefighters, this equipment will do much to not only protect their lives, but will also allow them to rapidly locate victims.
Thermal-imaging cameras are also used by firefighters to locate fire hidden in walls and in ceilings.

Nearly a year ago voters approved surveillance cameras to fight crime in Philadelphia neighborhoods. But the budget for the cameras is confused, and the timing for deployment is unknown, the costs are unknown, and nobody, not even the police, knows exactly how the system will work.
Mayor plans to put 250 cameras out to watch the meanest corners of Philadelphia. It turns out it’s not even clear if cameras reduce crime or not. Police testified that in some areas crime statistics have significantly increased after the installation of cameras.
A citywide referendum passed last May approved the installation of 250 cameras in the city as crime-fighting tools.
There are many private groups around the city that have placed surveillance cameras on or around their property. The school district also has surveillance cameras around many of its schools.…

Star Night Technologies, an Israeli Firm, has won a tender estimated at 30 million dollars to supply night vision equipment to the Indian Army. This order is supposed to be supplied over a two-year period. At this time the date for of the delivery start is still unknown, and SDS is negotiating with Indian authorities on this. Star Night Technologies won the tender through a subsidiary, New Noga Light Ltd., which manufactures night-vision equipment and sniper rifle sights.
The Israeli Defense Ministry recently informed that last year India was its single largest defense equipment importer worth 1.5 billion dollars. It comes to about 50 per cent of Israel’s defense exports, and at the same time about 30 per cent of India’s imports.…

Twenty-four laser sights, worth $7000, were donated to the Houghton County, MI police department by a citizen who wishes to remain anonymous.
Laser Sights look like conventional 40 caliber Glocks, but when you press your palm against the butt of the gun, a small red laser puts a dot on the target. The idea is – when a suspect realizes he’s clearly in the sights, he will give up.
Officials say that situations calling for the use of a laser sights aren’t all that frequent in Houghton County, but now they’re armed and ready. But still they hope that with laser sights those situations will be quickly and safely solved.…

Paterson City, North Jersey, will get what it wished for – surveillance cameras for more than 30 streets to monitor crime.
There was a request from the city’s Urban Enterprise Zone Authority for nearly $ 1 million to buy and install surveillance cameras and CCTV Cameras. And this request was approved, the exact amount awarded is not known, but surely known that the request was granted.
For now the city already has 12 wireless outdoor cameras, which are installed mostly in high crime locations. Police hope that the surveillance equipment will not only cut down the crime rate, but also illegal dumping. Hopefully these surveillance cameras will be installed and start working in a few weeks.…
