Ultra Thin Camera Systems will improve Night Vision

Specialists from San Diego, CA, invented the technology, which allows to make ultra thin cameras. They were able to construct thin, but very powerful camera by folding up the lenses of a long-focal-length objective.
This kind of scheme could be used in pilotless scout planes, cell phones and night vision. Creators say that their lenses are seven times more powerful and stronger, than a traditional of the same length.
To reduce the width of the digital camera scientists substituted the traditional optics with special folded up optical system. This system is bases on the principals, which are being used in astronomical telescopes with mirrors. In stead of reflecting light, the engineers used only one lens of a special construction. During the experiment, they used a 5 mm lense, which later n was folded 8 times.
