Metal Detectors now in Missouri Capitol

Visitors who come to Missouri’s Capitol will have to pass through metal detectors. The public safety director wants to install the metal detectors and X-ray machines as part of the enhanced security plan, which was detailed in private meetings with House members and confirmed to the Associated Press earlier this month.
The capitol metal detectors were set up after terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001. Since that time, though armed capitol police have continued to patrol the inside and outside of the building, still employees and lawmakers were able to enter and exit Missouri’s Capitol through many numerous doors without even passing these metal detectors.
