Unique Employee on Air Force Base

I visited my father today, we were talking on different topics, but you know as most men, he loves army and law enforcement (maybe partly because he is a retired policeman). So, he told me the story I though might be interested to some of you. So, here, enjoy. There is a new employee on the list of members of the staff at the Air Force Base in Langley. This is a robot, which is equipped with odometer and laser rangefinder. This wonder of engineering is capable to gather information about different buildings, rooms, apartments and storage fascilities. Automatically moving from one room to another, this device records metrology data which appears to be presicely correct, configuration of the premises in the building and builds corresponding three-dimentional models. Besides that, the robot takes pictures and makes video.
As a result, with this technical device now we can get an accurate map of the inner premises of a building. After that this map could be added with additional information about the character of use of every specific room. Also the information gathered by this robot-tecnical machine can become basic info for the conducting different types of inventory. By the way, the speed of this robot is very high and only one this device is capable to substitute the whole group of specialists.
Besides gathering the information about the premises, this device can determine it's own location, using the plan of the rooms and comparing objects, which it sees with the data that it has and which had been entered into it's memory.
So, without any doubts this device could become either a house dog or a spy, or even both.
